REJECTED! - Cardfight! Vanguard

You know, I totally understand the idea of the collector, and I refuse to condemn people for the things they collect. Stamps, coins, comics, dolls figurines...heck, if you're going to go as far as a Mitsudomoe dakimakura, it's your prerogative. A weird prerogative, but we're all collectors of something, whether it be as a hobby or as a career.

That's why I didn't have many qualms with Yu-Gi-Oh! when it came out. It didn't start out with the idea that it would transition over to a card-collecting game—at least, it didn't appear that way on paper. Yûgi had his own demons to figure out in the process, playing games through his split personality until it finally led to the worldwide phenomenon known as "Duel Monsters". The card game was spawned by the success of the franchise, and I can live with that.

However, the opposite does not necessarily work; a fictional card game won't lead to a real franchise. You can't plant an anime into the community, use it to tell people how to play the card game in some cryptic way, and guarantee that it will send consumers to toy stores when the cards hit shelves. In the case of Cardfight!! Vanguard, a show spawned by the collected minds of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Duel Masters, and card-corporation Bushiroad, this inverse of the sales formula is not only displayed, but it reveals that you simply can't rehash a show to regrow card sales and hope no one notices.

Apparently, in the world of Cardfight!! Vanguard, "Vanguard" is the card game that everyone has been talking about for years, even though it hasn't even been released in actual stores yet (the Vanguard game comes out February 26th). All the cool kids play this fantasy game where the combatants are merely spirits fighting on a mystical planet, and their means of survival involves summoning monsters and warriors through cards. One of the uncool kids, a quiet blue-haired kid named Aichi, has a particular card taken from him, and instead of letting it go, he chases the culprit.

However, his "Blaster Blade" card has, in turn, been lost by the bully and claimed by Kai, one of the strongest Vanguard fighters in town. Aichi timidly takes on Kai to get his precious card back, and this sends us on a two-episode primer covering everything about the game—something about twisting the card and using it to protect others, then drawing from the card pile to figure out some other sort of exotic math. (I wasn't really paying attention, as all of the Super-Saiyan hair was distracting me.) In the process, we come to find that Kai was the one who first gave Aichi his "Blaster Blade" card, and when it looks like all hope is lost, Yûgi Aichi removes a miracle card from his pack to defeat Kaiba Kai with the combined efforts from his "Blaster Blade".

You can't blame me for mistaking the characters from this show for the two main combatants from Yu-Gi-Oh! Intimidated pipsqueak taking down a confident fighter who later teams up with said pipsqueak? Yeah, we've heard it all before, Bushiroad, but the last time we were able to understand the rules of the game after we got to know the characters completely. This time, you're just trying to drive propaganda into fooling the viewer that this is the coolest thing since the last card game you tried to shove down our throats (which was Milky Holmes, for the record, so don't think we haven't forgotten that bitter pill).

Really, there is so little creativity to distinguish it from previous games and so much difficulty to understand how the game works that Cardfight!! Vanguard ends up putting us through a show that could have easily just been lumped into another Yu-Gi-Oh! spinoff. There's nothing about this show that interests me in the least, and that includes the non-traditional, all-serious female lead and a JAM Project opening theme that is severely out of place.

Here's a novel idea—take those Yu-Gi-Oh! cards that you've forgotten you've had for so many years and shuffle them for a while. It'll be just as exciting as watching Cardfight!! Vanguard, except you won't have the eye-strain in the end.

(Cardfight!! Vanguard is simulcast on Crunchyroll every Friday at 7PM EST.)

  1. You're an idiot. Cardfight Vanguard is made by the guy who made Yugioh R (the original yugioh) so obviously there's going to be similarities, and what are you talking about Saiyan hair? There's none in it. Get a life.

    1. All card games are similar so saying one is bad for having a few similarities is foolish.I could do this EXACT SAME ARTICLE WITH EVERY TCG IN EXISTANCE!Also, for the most part, vanguard is unique and so is every other game.Anc it IS a TCG so it cannot be much different from another.I will be getting vanguard cards not because other people like it or yu-gi-oh is dying but because IT LOOKS FUN!Every TCG is fun to someone which is why you get them.I personally love Cardfight! Vanguard fecause it's gameplay is different and it is more realistin animewise.Does anyon else have a comment because your oppinion is not a fact and you have no right to say so because as i just said it is an OPPINION!

    2. THE ONLY THING CARDFIGHTVANGUARD HAS ON YUGIOH IS THE ARTWORK. KONAMI SUCKS FOR SENSORING BOOBIES WHEN LITTLE KIDS PLAY VANGUARD TOO!

  2. Thanks for the input.

I call 'em like I see 'em, but if there are going to be similarities to Yugioh, why market it as a new system? I would rather just see a new season of Yugioh.

    1. Because Yu-gi-oh got old and after a good 6-8 years of play its over, done, and there needs to be something new and better. NO MORE YUGIOH.

    2. its true, YuGiOh is slowly dieing.
plus with yugioh there is a cycle:
      1. new decks (such as wind-ups, inzektors, and dino rabbits) emerge and overtake the meta by being broken and overpowered.
      2. konami uses their ban list to kill those decks off

      *start from step 1

    3. R u guys retarded yugioh isn't dieting it's getting bigger u stupid idiot get a life and get yur facts straight most yugioh players play vanguard yugioh is at the top and reaching higher while vanguard is trying to get on the first level whoever thinks yugioh is dying is a reatrd yugioh is doing better than ever vanguard isnt close to yugioh on any level so both of u get a life

    4. Xyzs have screwed up yugioh, all Konami care about is making more money, and when people actually get the cards, they find some way later on to make it a wasted purchase

    5. In terms of the Anime, Yu-Gi-Oh! jumped the shark with Zexal. TCG Wise, I'd personally love to see Cardfight!! Vanguard kill Yu-Gi-Oh! off it's just that Yu-Gi-Oh! players have spent so much money on their game that they can't accept that their game is not as balanced of a TCG as Magic or Pokemon.

      Delete
    6. MTG sucks as , you spend 800 dollers on that shit. POkemon si cheaper, but pokemon si far from balanced. Its completely bullshit with the broken EX. MTg just has a bunch of overused mythic that costs... what.... 800 dollers for one card. Lame. MTG anime and no lore (lore was discontinued). WE all know how repetitive pokemon is... LOok at season 5 and 6... those pokemon... look like... garbage. YUgioh jumped the shrk with Zexal, prob cuz of the little spoiled brats showing up everywhere. In season 1, yoi had chainsaws and murder, etc. GX was kinda like ZEXAL, but more serious, and with some sadder moments. 5Ds was da bomb. And zexal is crap. Max price for yugioh card is 80 dollers. IN addition, yugioh has no "rotation" and you can invent new ways to abuse cards while staying competitive. I have budget agents, bought for under 20 dollers, and I won at locals. And BTW xyzs are far from broken... Havent you heard about the many new synchroes? THe loop is broken, as KOnami began to slow the META down and now slower decks have a higher chance. WInd-ups were never broken... Inzektors were pretty good.. and dino rabbits always were trashy. Man, get out of that 2 yr. old format

    8. You know what you could do? Build a deck, play the game, and get a little more into it before trash talking it. If you're going to make fun of a TCG based anime make fun of everything Yugioh after the original series, since when is it cool to have everyone get an obnoxious voice actor, 475849 different colours in their hair, and have them all wear ridiculous clothes? I dropped Magic, Yugioh, and The Spoils because of how much I enjoy this game. Good job, you made yourself look like an ass on the internet. Next time before criticizing it, give it the time of day, build a deck you might enjoy, find a clan you like and give it a real try. At first glance I thought this game was really stupid, now i'm 12 decks deep, and 4 grand in on it and it's the only TCG I play. Oh, and the best part? The ban list for this game is about 1, maybe 2 cards. That's it. I can still use cards from the first set in tournaments 20 years from now and it be legal.

  3. a lot of people are comparing it to yu gi oh, i disagree rather i think that zexal has taken ideas from this game(overlay units, exceed summon) art wise and concept wise no surprise as the guy behind this used to be or still is withthe yu gi oh dev team but gameplay wise its nowhere like ygo.

  7. The article is about the anime. Geoff is comparing this to the opening storyline of YGO, not the card game.

Unless I missed something there is no comparison about the card-game itself so many of the above comments are irrelevant.

Lastly, the hair in the anime is kinda ridiculous, a lot of the characters have the same dumb haircut which I agree with Geoff is reminiscent of a super-saiyan - at least I know what he means, the rest of y'all don't be so pedantic.

By the way the anime sucks, and I have no idea how the game works even though the characters seem to explain all the moves when they make them lol..

  8. The anime is actually very good. Unlike YGO where Yugi pretty much won every duel (except the timed one with pegasus and a FEW others) he has essentially won every game even against seasoned professionals. Aichi's firsty victory it was proven that Kai was holding back, seeing what Aichi would do.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree...Yugi would win 99% of his duels in the series but in Vanguard it shows that Aichi is slowly progressing with every cardfight even if it was win or lose. He learns from his losses and tries to find strategies that would help him in the future. It shows how a normal card player can progress into a professional with hard work and team work.

  10. No matter what a creator does all tcgs are the same with monsters fighting each other. Cardfight Vanguard is just a new system of playing. Every game like Pokemon(TCG) and Yugioh have their own unique system of gameplay. One more thing a new season cant be added to the original Yugioh because the main character left the series and it has evolved in to Yugioh 5Ds and ZeXal. If your gonna treat it as a copy you might as well treat all TCGs as a copy of another game because in the end a monster is fighting, someone is loosing and people are buying and playing with the cards.

    ReplyDelete
  11. BTW the previous comment is supporting the goodness of Cardfight!!Vanguard

  12. I dont know if this is marketing or not, but the anime series is a thousand times better than yugi, the history is really good. There are 3 TCG which are really diferent Yugi, Magic the Gathering and Pokemon. They have their unique system, all the other TCG are similar o copies. Vanguard is really good. Not 100% original but its really good. I dont share your opinion but its yours

  14. Ok I understand where You're coming from. This game is quite- forgive me EXTREMELY commercial. however if your a non player then you can't understand the publicity this game will get just because its an anime. People are craving something new. Yugioh is indeed a great game, but its old. and as sad as it may be even if it's a ripoff, Cardfight!! Vanguard is new. Its like Yugioh Monster wise etc. but game-play is different even if its only slightly. Also as soon as this game hits the shelves you can be sure that I'll be buying it. Wanna know why? Because other people are! You can't play Yugioh by yourself, simple as that and as soon as Vanguard comes to America Yugioh will be history. Once it does rest assured it will blow up and I'll be one of the first people waiting in line itching to get a booster pack.

Although it has some similarities between other card games it has its own gamplay style and characters. over all go suck a lemon-grab :3 ADVENTURE TIME

  18. I've watched a few episodes of the Anime and I kinda like it. As for the game, it definitely looks much easier to play than Yu-Gi-Oh and I think they should emphasize it more to attract more people to buy and play the game. My main problem with Yu-Gi-Oh is, it became too complicated.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I watched this anime, and it made me want to go to a toy store and buy the cards... So I did. From what I have seen/read online this game is growing fast and people are really taking a liking to it. Yugioh now a days is all about money where as vanguard doesn't require you to have a $200 for a chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  20. My goodness why are people so serious with these comments? The anime just has cute characters that play a slightly interesting new game and all of a sudden it spawns these fanatics who can't even stand to have someone voicing a slightly negative opinion about the show. I'd call these people voicing these comments children, but I have a feeling they are much older than the actual children who play this game. But I suppose people like that are needed. You line the pockets of the creators who only aim at taking your money by means of a revamped, fancier yugioh.

I'm not hating on the show. I watched it because I thought I would find another yuigioh spin off and I did. The characters are quite cute and the anime in turn is rather interesting. But its not worth going out and buying stupid cards over in my opinion. Well I suppose if you are a child (or a hardcore cardgamer?), such influences are bound to get you to start playing the game. Its better than them getting caught up in drugs, alcohol and porn so... good job Vanguard.

Okay, that was awesome.(I mean the show) Vanguard rocks! They aren't knockoffs of Yugi and Kaiba, Aichi is original, Kai is just like every antagonistic loner.(There`s always one on Pokemon)The card game is pretty original. and its obvious you only watched a few episodes, because it gets CRAZY once you get far enough in the series.
P.S. Do you know what Psyqueria is?

  26. We all have our type of card gaming, Some like vanguard cause its more suspenseful because of the triggers (like me), while my friend like yugioh because you use more thought to it. Its all a sense of style.. So yeah we all have haters so what but that's just because we all have different tastes after all we're only human.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I kinda like the anime because it's different and doesn't make you leap into the magic of things in the game. Yugioh was cool because it mixed our world with the monster world really quickly. Duel Masters made the magic happen a little late in the series, and this game actually did it rather nicely. After a few episodes, it gets to tournaments and drama that seem reasonable considering the kids are ranging from Elementary to high school and the personalities all show it. Will the anime continue to grow in popularity? I believe so. The game seems simple, and getting popularity too. That's my two cents. I know it won't get much from anyone here, but still. Hope anyone gives the show a second chance, or at least tries to look at it with an open mind and not be biased because of past games, or shows for that matter.

  29. First, I would like to express my gratitude.
I am happy that you at least watched some episodes before making a review. I know that there are people who would just blow it off without even giving it the smallest chance.

Also I am glad that you gave your honest opinion regardless of what people may say, I can respond with just as much honesty, passion, and earnest. I read what you wrote and would appreciate it if you at least hear me out as well.

Yes, I admit that it might have some likeness to other card games.
But, I really like this anime and tcg.

The only hair that I found particularly kind of strange at first might have been Kai. crazy hair is pretty normal in anime.
Though, I think I get where you are coming from when you say that the hair bothers you so much you can't watch it.

I for one, do not like, to the point of intense hate, the hair of the main character of Yu-gi-oh Zexal. It BOTHERED ME SO MUCH! that main character's hair just looks so plastic-like and the way it is styled gives me the impression that he lacks hair for some reason.
Even so, I am going to consider trying to watch it again... Though the very thought of seeing that hair again makes me cringe. So, if the hair was what was keeping you from getting all that you can out of it, then just try watching it again and try to get as much fun as you can out of it. That is, if you are bored, or have some time to spare.

As for the first episodes of Vanguard, I found it to be much easier to understand and a little simpler than Yu-gi-oh.
I think that after a while, Yu-gi-oh started to add too much. I'm not saying that it is bad to try to make a cool game a little more complex, but it can get harder for someone new to start playing.

this is why I like Vanguard better. It is new so there hasn't been too many additions/modifications and there isn't an insanely long ban/restrict list.-_-
It feels like something that I can get into.
And it's not that bad that there are similarities. I mean, all manga/anime and even games in general can have some cliches and similarities. Especially if they are in the same genre. There's also the fact that you know for the most part the main character won't be gone for long. Yet people don't get tired of it. Even though the main character isn't likely to go down, there's still the thought of "what if" or "how will he/she do this".

Besides, since Yu-gi-oh is "dying", it is only reasonable to try a new card game.
Why don't you give it another chance? I'm not saying you have to watch the whole series or buy a bunch of cards... just kind of observe as it goes.
For me, it was fun to watch a couple of boys who played Yu-gi-oh at one of my old schools even though I didn't exactly know what was going on.

i am actually really excited since this is the first tcg that I am going to really try and play. (Tried Yu-gi-oh, but always think too much. Never really heard of Magic, I never was really interested in Pokemon tcg, and Neopets never stuck)

Yesterday I just got my first two booster packs from walmart and I cant wait till I can make a couple of decks (one for me and one so my dad can play with me) so I can finally battle. it did get me looking up the cards and the different clans online and all. They all sound so awesome and look cool/cute, it's so hard to decide what clan I want to focus on!

If it makes me filled with anticipation and happy, I know that there will be others who feel the same. And anime and games are supposed to satisfy people and entertain them. It helps bring people together and can make them happy. As long as a card game does that, then I can't complain much, even if it is a game that I don't really like. So isn't it fine like this as well?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yu-gi-oh decks are becoming more and more expensive. Most of my friends are quitting it because of all the restrictions the ban/limited list does to the decks. Hell, Yu-gi-oh is getting so expensive, making the best budget deck doesnt even win very much anymore. Vanguard tcg takes how you build decks to a different level. Instead of having your deck do all the work, as in dedicate your deck to a certain strategy, you have to make it so you can switch on how to approach each turn. Yeah, Yu-gi-oh is still kinda good, but the fact that you just play the same deck using the same strategy almost every time just gets dull. Don't get me wrong. I still like Yu-gi-oh, but Vanguard adds that something extra that I couldn't find in Yu-gi-oh. And that was having more freedom in my deck builds. Also, don't go hating on a series until AFTER you watch the entire series (or at least past the 10th episode). When I say "hating" I also mean comparing.

    -Cheers :D

  36. Well I'm not gonna argue and be disrespectful to you like some other retards, some of the other comments were completely unnecessary over an opinion... I'll just simply say that I disagree with your opinion. I was hooked right away to this anime, I'm not really much of a card player although I have lots of yugioh cards. I mean lets be honest here you cant expect these types of games to always be completely original, at least I certainly dont, yugioh, pokemon (and I know there's more I just cant think right now), and vanguard, every one of them is good in my opinion but has major similarities. Thats pretty much the only thing I'd have to disagree with you about is the whole copying thing, cuz everyone has there own opinion of things so I cant dis you for that, but yeah I love yugioh but just as someone before me said its getting way too expensive and if your someone like me who just has a lot of the old cards its hard to even play. I have tons of original yugioh cards then a good amount from gx and a few from 5d's, anyways if you use the old cards so many are banned now you can hardly even play unless you buy new ones (personally I think there just trying to get more money buy banning older cards to make harcore fans go out and buy new ones, but thats just me). Anyways to the point, I think cardfight is a good alternative to yugioh which is dying out for me at least.. just cuz zexals a bit annoying to understand the whole xyz thing (still love the first few series though) I love the show, and the card game itself is.. interesting if nothing else, I think it looks pretty fun.

p.s. I know this is a few years old but I saw a few recent comments and I thought, "why not comment myself". :)

  38. to be fair, i wont claim that my comments is legit. i wont deny that it is pesonal, but i'll be sharing it for everyone as a different eye may saw more diviated angles of truth, that once pointed, would be noticeable by other's point off view as well(i wont deny that i might be wrong too. XD). first of all, you can say that i am not biased, worth mentioning that i play both games. and is watching both anime. 0w0d so you can deffinitely tell that my comment is worth considering.

first; regarding the anime, Cardfight VANGUARD is indeed new, and that ads to its charms, in contrary, Yu-Gi-Oh! indeed gets old, not to mention they didn't have their original protag anymore. but here's the deal. in terms of entertainment factor, Yu-Gi-oh wins my bet.

    in yugioh:
yes, Yuma is indeed dorky, but based on how he plays, you can tell that as a player, he knows what he is doing(somehow). and being not so perfect or talented of a player, unlike hes predesesors(yugi, judai, yusei), and as i said"dorky", you can symphatize with his character more as you might actualy see your self to him. ;) and given that point, i praise NAS and TV TOKYO.

as for vanguard; they've pressented a shy, boy next door, potential bishounen, moe cosplayer of a character that is befitting of the next "hayate the combat butler" protagonist. =.= sorry if i speak of that fact, but it is a fact, never must be over looked!!! while you might say that i am just being a jerk of a shounen fan, you can never deny that in real life, it is too rare to see someone as girly as aichi sendou, specialy being someone who plays a tcg. thats a minus factor, but it might not be TMS's fault, bushiroad created the game, the almighty creator of Weiz Szarz(gwark.....bomitting). ow, and look, it is animated by the very animator of BAKUGAN BATTLE BRAWLERS. NICE 1!!!!!!! XD(=.=). logic wise, a character of such persona is unlikely(but not imposible, i reapet, NOT IMPOSIBLE!!!!) to play a game that requires some assertiveness. yes, yugioh is a game for the geek, some one might comment, but it requires a strong mind not to be distracted or intimidated by boustfull players which are actualy populating the meta. however, this comment might be considered personal as some people might might see this fact the other way arround.

in terms of side characters; they have tied on this.

      in vanguard:

vanguards character(hair asside, as it is a deffault to have extream hair on most anime) are too realistic in personality compared to yugioh, but this, might be considered as a down side. being realistic is good, but not in an anime. i'll be specialy mentioning Misaki. she is too realistic, that shes actualy feels dull. her personality is so flat, and her seriousness is irritating, not to mention having poor character development. a character developing poorly is forgivable, but not on the main characters!!! she turned noob as soon as season 2, and it irritated me that she changed her deck on seasson 3(what happened to that sentiments you have for OTT, i tought it was your parents memento, you bitch..=,=)

ok lets leave misaki alone for now as she has a good ammount of fan base to my surprise, they might hunt me, so lets move to Kamui

i personaly like Kamui more than any other characters of this show, actualy he is more be fitting of the main protagonist role in my opinion. typical shonnen persona, bubly, but serrious when nessesary. quite short tempered but that ads to his charms, not to mention, very virtious and expirienced of a player. i just hate how he ruin serrious moments whith his failled timed day dreaming, and thats the only thing that actualy ruined this character. to my delight, unlike misaki, he retained his nova graplers deck till the verry latest season. not to mention having his personality, realistic for his age.

Toshiki Kai, in the orther hand is the most retard of a concept of a rival character i ever saw. kaiba is a jerk, but he knows what justice when it comes to card games, and his good game sportmanship(putting 1st episode asside) is always evident to his desisions and actions, and even tough selfish in charater, he always has players wellfare(leaving manga asside) at his top concern. no one can actualy not respect Kaiba. not to mention, a good brother figure. Kaiser of yugioh GX is a more kind version of kaiba. even tough he failled developing good, he's still ok. Chaz is a failure of rival, turned into a respectable player as the seasson goes on, thats a good thing. XD Jack Atlas is Kaiba's direct incarnation. tough different on how they beggin, they've developed quite similarly, also a good thing. all of this is non observable to Kai. =.=. hes a total jerk, he has a hearth of stone, zero emotion sensitivity, and power obsessed. he tried acting into someone who cares but his action always contradicts his words justifications. i hate him more in season 4. he's a character, not worth admiring. if my son would say, he'll be like Kai Toshiki when he grows up, i'll beat him to death!!!!! but if you think of it, if were talking about a real person, that jerk of a person would be like Toshiki Kai too. =~=

well, Ren is not that bad, hes comparable to marik. Typical finnal Vilain. i actualy understand why he turns out that way, specialy if you met some one like Kai. Xp he's reassons is also justifiable in my opinion. trying to be powerfull for his friend, bacome too powerfull, instead of explaining why his power is dangerous, his best friend Jerked out and leave, because being kind does not suit his friend's style, and who is this friend of him? its Kai!!! XD(and yes, i hate Kai from the bottom of my hearth. =.=)

now let just leave vanguard asside and talk about yugioh:

it is obvious, they are not the typical people you'll met on a tournament sooner or later. it is never normal to take your oponent soul when they lost a duel, but that makes yugioh ENTERTAINING!!! yugioh is not realistic, but that makes it fun to watch, and same goes for the characters. a possesed personality splitted protagonist, school for dueling, a nd duel in motor cycles. XD quite extreame, but not too extream to be corny or cheesy. non of their characters actually felt flat to boot. i ewont elaborate as i mentioned them already on the vanguard section, but their irregularity makes them unique, specialy when you learned that this same bloned, blue eyed person also has an obsession with rammen noodles. XD(as you noticed, i did not site most chara from zexal, well cause its new, i am not updated of its story..T.T)

    3. story wise; yugioh wins.

you cant deny it. yes yugi always wins, but all of his duels are something that one musn't missed watching. his winning move is always varied, miraculous yes, but all of them leaves awe to the viewers, it's just epic how he wins such so one sided duel out of rubble. XD same goes for his succesors, even yuma himself! you can always see that they win in wit and perseverance.

      as for vanguard.

P1-I'll atk with my most powerfull attack!!! i'll deal enough damage to win!!!
P2-not so fast, triple heal trigger!!!
      p1-(screams literaly)

yes, that is how most vanguard games turns out in le anime. if not, it goes to something like this.

p1-ill guard with all my hands, and also, ill intersept all my rear guard posible!!!
p2- ok, drive check. first check, critical Trigger, second check..................................................ITS ANNOTHER CRITICAL TRIGGER!!!!!
      p1-(shat his pants)

yes, thats how most episode turns out. not too exact but quite relevant win condition. the player wins or survive because of a miracle trigger. then whats more iritating is that this wining player either acts or claims his win as if bacause he's a better player even tough its clear that he wins entirely out of luck. i'll admit it, yugi and the others also wins beacause of a mirracle draw(mostly, cards that you didn't actualy know that is included on their decks) but they never fail to apply wits on the play. yes, luck plays a role, but they think of it out to win, not just owning the game because of an auto pilot trigger effects.

having this factor, i've actualy survived following card fight vanguard's story, even tough i did not actualy watched the battle it self, and just see who wins and who lost. ._.

i'll post my tought about the game in a different comment, but as you've red on my comments, its up to you to decide either wich one is better. off the rope every one. XD

  39. I've been a big Yugioh fan for years, since the original with Kaiba and Yugi. I've gotta say, they don't really impress me anymore. Zexal reminds me too much of GX, which wasn't bad at first but got really boring as it went on (Zexal, not GX, GX was awesome). I really enjoyed the original series, the GX series, and the 5D's series. And all these new decks are okay, some I question in terms of creativity. And a lot of the new rule changes I keep hearing about like "no first turn draw for P1" and "Pendulum summoning" are questionable also.
I started Cardfight about a month ago, and I was skeptical at first, getting into a new game, but not too long after trying it was so much more entertaining to play than yugioh. I even started trading away yugioh stuff for new Cardfight stuff. I also watched the show, which taught me how to play the game better than the yugioh shows ever did. There was a lot of originality that I saw, which made it all the worth while to watch, at the same time keeping with most of the themes we've already seen in the other card game animes.
Those who are skeptical about the show still have to remember that the target audience of this show is kids who are in Elementary School, like 7 and up, If a majority of kids could follow consistent plot twists like every other episode, then you could assume that the show could have room for more originality, thus ending the skepticism. Not to bust on anyone's opinions, but being open to another idea is probably better than immediately rejecting it based off of assumptions you have made.

  40. I found episode 1 funny (in a bad way) because the main character forces upon you the explanation that "CFht Vanguard is what everyone talks about!" it's just funny how they create forced popularity of the game on the very first episode of the anime.

    1. This, LOL.
reminds me of ygotas season 0's short talk about blatant merchandising https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZSS_VJJC1Y
Of course it would work. On 7 year olds that is.
yugioh at least had (except all of zexal and most of gx) characters and story that were likeable and at times even symathizable (thats not a real word)
      Arc-v's the best tho.
but yea, lol the moment I heard Aichi (main chara in CFV) tell me CFVanguard is what EVERYONE IS TALKIGN ABOUT", I knew the show was gonna be BS
